Good frame with easy mobile app setup
The frame looks good and does the job well. Setting it up was straightforward, and the touch screen is responsive, making it easy to navigate. The frame's display quality is good, showcasing clear photos and videos with a slightly blueish tone.
However, with the free version, you can only upload up to 15 seconds of video per frame. If you want to upload longer videos, a subscription is required. The built-in 16GB storage is ample for photos, and the ability to share directly via the Frameo app is a nice touch, making it convenient to send pictures to the frame from anywhere.
Overall, it's a good digital frame with good features, though the video length limitation might require a subscription for those who want more.
Love it!
I only had it going for a day, but it’s awesome so far! It connected to my WiFi flawlessly. I love that you can either wall mount, or table top it, as well as either have it vertical or horizontal. I have it on a corner shelf and it looks awesome. The app is good, easy to use. I also found you can send photos to the frame directly from your “photos”. At least on my iPhone you can. Like, if you’re in your phone’s photos, select the photos you want, click the little send icon, look for the Frameo app and click that. Easy peasy. You can then “fit to screen” from the frame itself like for example if a photo needs to be displayed horizontally and your frame is sitting vertical. You can adjust brightness, and adjust how many seconds you want each photo displayed before it goes to the next photo. You can “hide photo” from the frame if one pops up you don’t want for whatever reason. The touchscreen works flawlessly. Just several things you can do. I have not added friends to it, but that seems like it would be easy enough to do and then they can add photos to it, but I’m assuming they would have to be connected to your WiFi to do it. Maybe not though, I’m not sure. Holds 16 gb 2.5 of which is “system usage” so it’s essentially 13.5 gb for photos which is still a lot.
If something goes south with the frame I’ll edit this review.
Easy to use and great display.
We bought this frame for our dinning room, the fact we can drop photos and have them displayed is fantastic to display memories. We have had no problems with the item other than it freezing on us but I did a software update and it seems to be fine now. It is amazing for the price, easy to use and makes uploading as easy as browsing your photos. We are planning on adding more frames soon!
They fixed the software! Looks great now!
10.1 WiFi Digital Photo Frame, Canupdog IPS Touch Screen Smart Cloud Photo Frame with 16GB Storage
Update: They have sent several software updates in the 6 or so months since I bought this frame. This shows they are still actively developing for it, which is nice. Somewhere in the last one or two up dates they fixed the problems I reported in my original review so I am very happy with it now. I can now set it so the default slideshow behavior is to make the whole slide fit to the screen based on whichever dimension is largest and it offers options to fill the unused margins, including black, which is exactly what I wanted. Thanks! I am changing my review from 2 to 5 stars as promised.

I was most worried about how the pictures would be transferred to the frame because a lot of these photo frames force you to use an app and all my pictures are on my PC. All I want to do is load the pictures to an SD card using my PC, put the card in the frame and have the frame display them, just like the ancient photo frame this was replacing.
Turns out, this frame did not make me use an app, hallelujah. I thought it was a bit annoying that the frame wanted an network connection but they even issued a firmware update soon after I bought my frame that would allow you to send images directly from PC to frame, not sure if via cable or wifi. In any case there are a lot of nice features blah blah blah and most are accessible via the touch screen without using additional apps, remotes, web sites or other external dependencies.
The problem is, and why I am only giving 2 stars, when displaying pictures the frame insists on zooming in so that the entire screen is full. So for example, a picture in portrait mode could be zoomed way in to the middle, cutting off their head or whatever is at the top. My photos include a lot of old pictures converted from slides and prints, so there are a lot of variations in aspect ratio. One would think this would be a common problem and they would have worked it out.
In fact, they have! There is a button that says "fit to frame" (something like that) that does exactly what I want: proportionally size down the image to fit the largest of either vertical or horizontal so the entire image is displayed, and just leave the unused portions of the screen (sidebars or top/bottom margins) empty. Two problems:
1 - There is no setting to make this the default behavior. So what is the customer supposed to do, go through hundreds of pictures one at a time and for each one, go through the touch screen menu system to locate and press the button? Seriously?
2 - The unused portion of the screen should be left blank or even better, display dark (as black as the screen can manage). Instead, they display bright blurriness that looks terrible.
Maybe some day they will do another update that does what I want. It is nice to know that they are still actively working on the firmware. When it gets and update there is a little box in the corner of the screen that alerts you.
I would love to be giving this 5 stars but almost every picture I see on my frame leaves me grumbling. The basic ability to display pictures pretty important. The ancient frame that this one replaced could do the job with no problem and do you know how old it was? It was so old that when I took the SDHC card out and moved it to the new frame but it would not read it. Finally I figured out that this was because the old card was 16MB. Yes, MEGAbytes. For some reason this simple understanding of how a photo frame should operate has been lost along the way, as they built in all kind of fancy stuff the core functionality has been neglected. It's like they did a great job with the frosting but the cake itself is meh.
I hope someday after an update I will revise this review to 5 stars.
Best digital frame I have every purchased!!!
If you are looking to buy a digital photo frame, I highly, highly recommend this item. We had a different brand before that lasted about 18 months before it went bad. I ordered this one after looking at a lot of digital frames.
Setup: Very easy. You take it out of the box, plug it in, and it walks you through it. You connect it to your WIFI, insert a SD card (Unlike many of the other photo frames, this takes a full size SD card, not the Mini SD card that most others take, thankfully I had an adapter). After that, you simply need to download the Frameo app on your phone, create an account or login, then connect your app to the frame which is very easy (in the settings of the frame, there is a tab to add "a friend." When you click that tab, it will show you a code, and it also has a qr code that you can scan in the app to automatically link it. From there, you can start adding photos.
Settings: There are a lot of customizable settings, and I haven't tried them all yet. First, I noticed that it was set to shut off at 11pm and turn on automatically at 7am. Since my wife gets up for work before 7am, I changed that to 5am. Another setting is for the motion sensor. By default, it automatically turns off the screen after I believe 15 minutes of no motion being detected. Since we have this in our living room where we often watch TV, this wasn't good. I decided to turn off the motion sensor to keep the screen on at all times between 5am and 11pm (before making this change it shut off on it's own while we were watching TV, and we like to be able to look over every now and then to see the pictures).
When you send pics to the frame, some of the pics will show zoomed in. If you don't like that, simply touch the screen when the pic is showing, and click full screen, then you will see the entire picture.
You can also send videos to this digital frame. It will only send a 15 second clip of the video, and you can choose which 15 seconds you want to see on the frame. Unlike some other frames, you don't have to pay for an upgrade or subscription service for this feature to work. Just a FYI with videos, there is sound as well. If you don't want to hear the sound, you can turn that off or adjust the volume. We actually enjoy this feature.
Great service, love it
The 1st one that came didn't work. When I contacted them they replied quickly. They asked for a video and gave me some things to try. When those didn't work they replaced it. The replacement came in 2 days. It took me a while to figure out how to add pics (you use an app and add yourself as a "friend,") but once I figured it out it was easy . I love the wood frame look, the nicest of any I saw. And if course I love have my favorite pics displayed!
GRANDPARENTS LOVE!!!
These frames are so fun and easy to use. Our family purchased one for our grandma a couple of years ago because she felt social media was so impersonal but didn't want to miss photos of the babies. With the paired use of the digital frame and Frameo app family members were able to send special photos for our grandma to enjoy daily. She loved it so much that i figured I would buy some for my parents, my in-laws and of course myself. They were an all around success and I will definitely be buying more.
